Have a *INKC   DOUEQ*ON loop, with a EXFMT, and timeout after a second or
two. If you can't find the way to timeout, let me know.  I have a way, but
it is pretty archaic and there must be a better way by now (or ask Tim
Truax  -  it was his solution originally)
