I agree, but then again C isn't Java either.  Maybe looking at C to
learn Java would be like looking at COBOL to learn PLI?

The point is that Javascript could get you started easily along the path
of object/function definitions and getting use to a different language
syntax without the complexity (or full features) of C or Java.

One could tinker with it to jazz up their web page and get comfortable
with doing things from a new point of view.

Sort of like learning to walk before running. :)
