Ricardo,

Does the message come up immediately, or after a minute or so? If it
comes up right away, or if it happens with an empty outq, there is
probably a mistake somewhere in your outq definition. If OTH the spooled
file goes into SND mode for a while, particularly if it is a large one,
then the probability is that the connection is timing out while the
remote writer is transforming your spooled file to ASCII. Try putting a
very small, i.e.. single page, spooled file at the top of the queue. If
that gets through then your configuration is correct.

One solution to the timing out problem is to use 2 queues on the AS/400.
The first is your normal queue, but instead of sending output to the
remote printer it sends it with transformation to the 2nd queue. The
second queue sends the transformed file to the remote printer without
transformation to ASCII and therefore without the likelihood of timing
out.

The first queue will have remote system = (name of local system),
connection type = *IP, destination type = *OS400, transform SCS to ASCII
= *YES.

The second queue will have remote system = remote printer, connection
type = *IP, destination type = *OTHER, transform SCS to ASCII = *NO.

It's not very elegant, but it works.
