I don't think that will affect us but thanks for the tip..We will be doing a side-by-side so we have time..I need to give my buddy peter a call anway..He is from my home town,Salem,Mass. and has been great in the past for info on upgrades... >>> "O'Connor, Peter H." <102736.3535@CompuServe.COM> 07/30 8:25 PM >>> Anyone who is thinking about moving to RISC should do: DCPOBJ OBJ(*ALLUSR/*ALL) OBJTYPE(*ALL) and CHGPGM PGM(*USRLIBL/*ALL) before using IBM's Upgrade Assistant or the Ehnanced Upgrade Assistant. If you do NOT, your statistics generated by Upgrade Assistant will be way OFF!!!!!!!!!!! Problem: A library that is compressed OR has pgms that have been optimized means that the estimates on disk storage could be way off. Estimates on object conversion could be way off. For example, a library without compression took 32 minutes. The same library with compression took 107 minutes. That is a significant amount of time and a significant amount of disk storage. If you have a small window to do CISC to RISC. consider the below. The idea is to get your system upgraded/converted in the quickest amount of time possible. Remember, to add 10-15% of object conversion time for Murphy! Solution before gathering statistics: DCPOBJ OBJ(*ALLUSR/*ALL) OBJTYPE(*ALL) CHGPGM PGM(*USRLIBL/*ALL) Rerun QB010 to capture data to calculate objects sizes as best as possible etc. While testing my CISC to RISC conversion tool, I noticed the drastic results. Not many people test CISC to RISC like I do, 14-15 times a week. So most people are unaware of the potential problems. While it is mentioned in the Road Map, it is NOT something one might notice!!!! I wanted the Midrange-L group to know this before Murphy got you. If you have particular questions on this problem, you can contact me direct or E-mail me. Peter H. O'Connor PAE 7 Riverway Rd.
