A minimum of 600MB of disk storage is required. The 600MB includes space
for
Licensed Internal Code, licensed programs, applications, and user data.
The
auxiliary storage requirements for the AS/400 Licensed Internal Code and
licensed programs are included for convenience in calculating total
  requirements.

An important point here - it depends on what you have installed on your
system. A couple of IBM quotes here:

>From the IBM Sales Manual for V2:

A minimum of 600MB of disk storage is required. The 600MB includes space
for
Licensed Internal Code, licensed programs, applications, and user data.
The
auxiliary storage requirements for the AS/400 Licensed Internal Code and
licensed programs are included for convenience in calculating total
  requirements.

>From the IBM Sales Manual for V3:

For OS/400 V3R1, the minimum disk storage will range from 275MB to 500MB
depending on the options selected and code compression. For OS/400
licensed
programs and licensed internal code, the disk storage requirements will
range
  from 375MB to 600MB.

For OS/400 V3R2, the minimum disk storage will range from 300MB to 575MB
depending on the options selected and code compression. For OS/400
licensed
programs and licensed internal code, the disk storage requirements will
range
  from 425MB to 700MB.

These disk storage ranges should be used for reference only. To plan
system
requirements, refer to "AS/400 New Release Planning" manual (SA41-3100)
and
the "AS/400 Software Installation Guide" (SC41-3120) for detailed
information
  regarding auxiliary storage requirements.

So by IBM's published figures, V3R2 only requires at most 100MB more than
V2R3 and might even take less (not likely). What it will take for you
depends. If you don't have much disk, a lot of objects will stay
compressed, if you have more disk everything will automagically decompress
at installation. Of course IBM's minimums above are only for the base
operating system, not your compilers and other licensed programs. Al's
system is undoubtedly configured differently than yours and has different
licensed products installed, so take his numbers with a shaker full of
salt. Or as IBM says "These disk storage ranges should be used for
reference only...". Use the books referenced above or at least post your
configuration so someone with a similar configuration can comment on their
experiences.
