>> does the same function as the DIGITS function will do in SQL. My requirement is I have a L type date field in *ISO format. The dates are coming in ccyy-mm-dd format. I want to return only ccyymmdd without the separators. Is there any BIF that returns ccyymmdd as a character field? << Venu, You can use MOVE or MOVEL to get the date into a zoned decimal variable. This value will be identical to a character field, because it can't be negative. You could move the date to a character field too, but then you'd get the separator characters. hth Pete -- - Pete Hall peteh@earth.inwave.com http://www.inwave.com/~peteh/ * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * This is the Midrange System Mailing List!
