Al,

I have found that these values are a way of measuring some
relationship of Temporary storage being used. The value never seems to
be correct after an IPL, but after the IPL I can watch temporary storage
go up and down (almost a relative number from where you started after
the IPL). That has been the only use that I have used these for. In a
multiple ASP system, this temporary storage is always used in the system
ASP. I had a theory once, that the value (Current value of Current
unprotected minus the value of current unprotected right after the IPL)
was measuring the size of objects that were in everyones QTEMP.

This has been on CISC or RISC, and never were any systems
checksummed.

Comments for what they are worth.
