I read with interest, last night, about Java on the IBM web page. Specifically, I was checking out Visualage for Java. Java looks like it could improve productivity. The question is, can it be used to write an application for a green screen? Most of the code that we write is used in the manufacturing and warehousing environment where the only thing we should have is a green screen. I can't see a reason for a PC in these areas, especially when the people using these terminals have a very limited experience with a PC. This is related to the discussion of PC versus Green Screen. It sure would be nice if IBM could enhance the old technology as mentioned before. I wonder how many 5250's are still running out there. Those terminals were heavy duty.
