Does PCS qualify? One of the boxes has PCS (but not CA), and the 
other doesn't have either one.

I don't understand the difference. Unless by "directly" you mean 
a physical connection. If so, then no; the physically connected 
system IS the managing system, and this connection works fine.

In the CA configuration screen each additional system does say "via" 
the managing system (which the PC is physically connected to.).

I don't know. I'll check Monday.

I should have mentioned that STRPASTHR works fine; this is what the 
user is currently using to circumvent the problem.
