I'm not sure what kind of work you are doing that gets lost.  If you are in
SEU, it is recoverable.  For other work (normal application work)
investigate the job attribute DEVRCYACN (device recovery action.  Setting
it to *DSCMSG (the new default) or *DSCENDRQS, you can recover your job.
The old default *MSG was unrecoverable, and also a possible security risk.
If you want to change this at the system level, there is a system value.
