This may not apply, but I set the system value to create the first 
tcp device, and then disabled automatic virtual device creation.

I renamed the qpa... device to tcp001. I have a cl program that I use 
to create more devices as I need. You still do not have any control 
over which device you connect to. - I just like TCP better that 
QPA..., and wanted to actually create the devices myself.
