I agree. I am pretty headstrong and "cocky", but I used to be a "DOU man"
until I went to work in a shop where they said that two of the three
programmers there used DOW. I started using DOW and the other DOU guy
ended up leaving (this was just a symptom, not the reason). 

It is important for a site to maintain standards, and when they are not
maintained fewer and fewer man hours are spent on new code.

By the time I left the shop, I had written so many DOWs it was my habit
and, although I tried, I just couldn't switch back.
