Actually with the way things are migrating, BPCS might want to ditch
the device naming thing.  I know we got stuck with something like this
back on Mapics.  

        Another point of concern and one I'm trying to work around:  I have
multiple interactive subsystems.  One has specific device names
specified.  These devices are the names of devices that the IS Staff
uses either at work or from home.  With the random naming, I cannot
guarantee that I will get the same device each time.  

        One resolution is to try and restrict by port number.  I have not
gotten very far with this yet.
