  • Subject: Re: Dialup Solution to AS/400 Needed

One way to do it is to set up a Windows NT server running RAS at your LAN.
The following are the steps:

1. Set up a Windows NT server and run RAS.
2. Install CA400 for Windows 95 to remote user's PC and use TCP/IP
connection.
3. Set up Dial-up Networking to dial to the RAS via PPP connection and
TCP/IP protocol.
4. Set up AS/400 to use TCP/IP (or you can use SNA server).

When remote user dials to the RAS via PPP connection, the RAS will act as a
relay and route the traffic to the target AS/400. The TN5250 will provide
terminal emulation. Since PPP supports TCP/IP but not DLC, TCP/IP will be
your choice of protocol.

Good luck.
