If you have Performance Tools installed you can use the WRKSYSACT command -
this command will show you jobs and tasks.....I'm not 100% sure but I
believe there are a couple of system tasks that you will see pop up during
a save process.
Someone else may help shed some light on the tasks involved. I've never
had much success getting information regarding system tasks from
SupportLine......

WRKSYSACT can help diagnose the problem (BTW - the command does not require
PFRT be running). WRKSYSACT is 'possibly' less resource intensive than
WRKACTJOB in that it retrieves only active jobs. It runs at PTY 1 so it
will have a negative impact....however it will typically respond back
fairly quickly......

It's one of those darned if you do and darned if you don't. You don't run
it you might not find out the problem........you run it you just add to the
problem......

You could capture the same information by running Performance Tools
collection but would have to wait to see it. If you don't have Performance
Tools - I'm not sure what would help pin down the problem - you could run
the monitor and send it to someone who would generate some reports for you
- I have the PFRT on a V3R2 machine if you are interested.....email me
privately if interested at mcrump@ballfoster.com.

As usual on the weekend after monthend, I performed a reclaim storage
and IPL cycle. I currious to see if this problem gets revisited again
this week. June's month end will fall on a week day. Just for the heck
of it and if I remember, I'm going to perform an IPL and reclaim storage
the weekend before and see if everything runs slow again.
