This is quite easily accomplished.
Find out the name of the mailserver, let us say it is
mail.rf.ohio-state.edu.
Test it by PING RMTSYS(mail.rf.ohio-state.edu).

Use command WRKNAMSMTP and choose 1 for system table.
Choose 1 for add. Enter user SMITHRK and adress OSURF.
In the SMTP-route field enter
?mail.rf.ohio-state.edu:rsmith?mail.rf.ohio-state.edu.
The ? is depending on your language, just press F1 and read the help.

Then use command CHGDIRE USRID(SMITHRK OSURF) MSFSRVLVL(*SYSMS)
PREFADR(*SMTP)
That should do the trick. There is more than one way of doing this.
You must of course have all of the TCP/IP configured correct.
By the way, I'm running V3R7.

Forwarding OV/400 Mail

We are planning to move our email from OV/400 to another platform.
I would like to know if there is any way to forward incoming tcp/ip
email back out across the internet to another machine.  I need to
have an entry for each user on our 400.

For example I would want the mail to:
smithrk?osurf@osurf400.rf.ohio-state.edu
to be forwarded to:
rsmith@mail.rf.ohio-state.edu

Any thoughts would be appricated.
