Hi, Does anyone know of a way to use the OVRDBF POSITION parm using a variable for the key value against a file with a packed key? Someone at the client brought this to me today. We seem to be able to do this with a hex literal or a character variable against a character key. We are trying to find a way to specify the hex value to put up against the packed field. Everytime we do this with a character variable it winds up with a quote outside the x like... 'X' || &CHARVAR -> 'X''123456F''' This gets by the compiler, and the OVRDBF returns no errors, as it sees it as a string, but the following OPNDBF returns an error at execution time. Or does someone have a workaround? He's just attempting to read one config record out of many based on a passed parm. Looking for a CL solution, of course we could call an RPG and have it CHAIN the record for us, but would rather not.
