Joe, as usual very good points, but they are falling on deaf ears. Shadrack thinks that everyone is in a position to jump around the country from job to job. People with families are not in a position to do that for the reasons I stated in an earlier e-mail. Plus as you have put it corporate America will take advantage of laws regardless of who they screw. Far too many CEO's only worry about now and themselves and screw the future, they figure they won't be around when everything goes to hell.

I have found that the issue is _not_ a lack of skilled RPG
programmers - it is a lack of _affordable_** RPG programmers.

Oh, I almost forgot: There's another reason why this shouldn't be an issue.
The idea behind visas in particular is that those workers are only meant to
fill positions when there are no available American workers, regardless of
pay level. It's not meant to bring in cheap laborers because companies
think salaries are too high.

That's why there are supposed to be safeguards in place to prevent visa
workers from working at salaries less than prevailing wages. But your
argument directly says that the laborers brought in are cheaper than their
American counterparts. Their very existence depresses the prevailing wage
to the point where Americans can't afford to take the jobs.

It's a vicious cycle that's being hugely exploited by unscrupulous American
companies along with the Tata's of the world and their political cronies in
Washington.
