SR. DIRECTOR, INFORMATION SYSTEMS & COMMUNICATIONS

An innovative, rapidly growing, $200M+ distribution company headquartered in
Upper Marlboro, Maryland seeks a Sr. Director, Information Systems &
Communications. This 146 year old, privately-held company is in four
Mid-Atlantic States and has 23 branches.



Major responsibilities center on providing the technical and managerial
leadership for a small 4-5 person Information Systems Department running on a
Series I (AS400) platform. The primary mission of this position is to provide
the overall strategic and day-to-day IT operations leadership to this company.
This position reports to the CEO and is an integral member of the senior
management leadership team.



This person will have the overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations
of the corporate data center as well as providing technical leadership for
shaping the strategic direction of this department. Key responsibilities
include management of software development, end-user interface,
hardware/software vendor relations, technical development of staff, and
department budget formulation. Currently the technical environment consists of
an IBM I series platform with several complex and customized developed software
applications in a relational database environment. In addition, this is a
TCP/IP communications infrastructure with Lotus Notes/Domino. Program
languages are RPG/ILE, SQL, and CLP.



Requirements for this position include at least five years in an IBM Series I
(formerly AS400) environment. This person must have 10 years of demonstrated
management experience as well as technical and system programming skills.
Knowledge of the following application areas considered a plus: order entry,
inventory processing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.



We seek someone who has been deeply involved in the development and
implementation of an overall strategic and tactical MIS program in a fast
paced, customer oriented company. Experience with relational databases, EDI,
total quality management, and multi location environments is desirable. Some
experience with TCP/IP communications protocol is also desired.



Total compensation (base plus bonus) is open but targeted in the $100K-$150K
range. An excellent fringe benefits and relocation program is offered.
