Au contraire - I would say it is one of the better informed and most
sensible posts on the topic I have seen in a very long time.

This is a world-wide phenomenon and the US has far more to lose by "closing
the doors" than it has to gain.  In time the situation will undoubtedly
resolve itself as you note, but it will be a slow and painful process and we
in North America must learn to focus on the things we do best.
