Hello, Denes:

If you really need nested includes and macro expansion, look at "m4" -- a general-purpose Unix macro preprocessor. IBM delivers the AIX version of m4 for i5/OS or OS/400 as part of PASE.

Or, you could use the ILE C compiler's built-in preprocessor, by specifying CRTCMOD ... OPTION(*PPONLY). Then, invoke the MI compiler for the expanded text.

You could even write your own command to invoke macro processing and then invoke QPRCRTPG to compile the expanded source..

During my quest for knowledge on my previous post I saw that sometime in the past there was a talk about creating macros and make the %INCLUDE recursive.

Apart from the obvious benefits and aside from the philosophical and rhetorical "is it worth the effort?", was there any real progress ever made?.
