Bob,

The objective is not to reply to the message, but to identify the message that the reply belongs to. The *INQ and *RPY messages have different message keys and I can't seem to locate the *INQ key embedded in the *RPG message.

Use the msgkey (message key) to send a reply to the message. Doesn't matter
where it is on the system, once you have the key, you can reply to it
directly.

Subject: [MI400] Reply msg linkage info

Once I have retrieved a *RPY (any variety) message, is there a way to
directly link to its corresponding the *INQ message? How does IBM do it
when viewing a *MSGQ's messages?

If this info is available, I would appreciate some sample code. If
possible, RPG using the appropriate MI built-ins, since this info does not
seem to be available via traditional means. TIA.
