Create a symbolic link to the program object and specify the symbolic

Simon,

Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work either - the documentation for
the link() API points out that no links can be created in the QSYS.LIB
library system. Hmmm....

It does work because we use it for this purpose. The trick is that the symbolic link must be created in the IFS but point to the QSYS object.

The CL equivalent is: ADDLNK OBJ('/QSYS.LIB/MYLIB.LIB/THEPROGRAM.PGM')
                             NEWLNK('/tmp/JOBNAME') LNKTYPE(*SYMBOLIC)

The neatest part is that you can use long names (to ensure uniqueness) and the job name will be the first 10 characters of the symbolic link. You can remove the link after the job is spawned.

Regards,
Simon Coulter.
