Transaction definition -- MI400

Hi,

I have problems whit understandig of performance measuring in transaction. 
I don't know how can I imagine a transaction in OS/400 or SLIC. Is it 
certain number of jobs, proceses, tasks, instructions... ? I can't get the 
definition in E-Books or on the Internet. Please, any link or information 
would help.
