This is a multi-part message in MIME format... -- To: mi400@midrange.com From: jamesl@hb.quik.com X-Advert: http://emumail.com Reply-To: jamesl@hb.quik.com Date: Fri, 23 Aug 2002 13:22:25 EDT X-Mailer: EMUmail Subject: Re: [MI400] Crtmicmp (and printing) Depending on code page (and I had to study EBCDIC code pages in some depth when coding our emulator, and still have the multicolor-highlighted charts), neither vertical bar nor divided vertical bar are in the "invariant" portion of the 5250 EBCDIC character set: for the US/Canada/Netherlands code page, vertical bar is 4F, while divided vertical bar is 6A; for the Multinational code page, vertical bar is BB, divided vertical bar is 6A, and exclamation point is 4F. On other code pages, vertical bar follows either the US or Multinational convention, but divided vertical bar jumps around (or in some cases is absent entirely). The charts, by the way, are from the (unfortunately not recently revised) 5250 data stream manual. And as to my printing issues, I'm looking for a way to render HTML into a spool file, using either IPDS, or APF, or the OfficeVision extensions to SCS, (I don't care which as long as I can make it work) without customers needing to have host servers (to do it in Java using Toolbox classes, and yes, I've got a query on the Java list) running, or the apparently rather costly APF Toolbox APIs (to do it in ILE C) installed. And I'm getting seasick with the constant swinging back and forth between Java and C. Since MI isn't involved, it's kind of off-topic for the MI list, so perhaps you should contact me privately if you can help. -- JHHL
