With access to the OS source code, 3rd party developers could improve DDM
performance, add graphics to display files, explore the possibilities of
integrated message loop, event driven programming, write a better odbc
driver, hook the database IO calls to deliver complete HA and data
replication ( HA becomes TA ).  Maybe even improve the host server
performance and fix netserver so the iSeries could be a functional
replacement of NT file server systems.

Opening the source code would breath a lot of life into our system.
