Leif, I think this is what IBM intends. The midrange community should grab this as a cost savings argument for designing and developing new applications to replace our legacy green screen applications. Instead of continually patching and extending our old applications we need to move to the current/future generation of user interaction (web). We have saved money and time by skipping over the Windows interface, but its time to move on. If we continue to fight for 5250, we have guaranteed the demise of our favorite platform. Regards, Stan >wouldn't that same argument not also apply to Joe Pluta's method of >"re-engineering programs to remove the 5250 I/O" and get the same >interactive capability but without 5250? >Presumably true "interactive" capability is measured in service >given to users interacting directly with the system. The interactive >tax should really be called a 5250 tax.
