Subject: Re: [MI400] How does this software work??

My fellow geeks:

Regarding hack-based software:

I must point out that
while QuestView originally used hacks to get the
meta-data, it has been
hack-free and Sec50-friendly since sometime around
Release 7.2/8.2 or
7.3/8.3. Making it so was a project I undertook shortly
after I was put in
charge of QV development, and accomplishing it allowed me to
concentrate on
adding features and hand-optimizing the code, whereas my
predecessors were
perpetually bogged down in updating the hacks to stay on top
of the OS/400
revisions.
