Anyone know about the structure of heap allocations? ( ALCHSS )

Is there "border" space before and after each allocation?

When I FREHSS, how does the machine know size of the allocation.

I am considering a debug tool that will examine the heap for signs of
corruption: Allocation overflow ( copy data to a location outside the bounds
of the allocation ) and allocations that are not being freed. ( heap gets
larger and larger ).

MATHSAT looks like a good instruction to use to determine that allocations are
not being freed.

Ideal would be border space around the allocation that program could use to
store identifiying info of the pgm and/or function that created the allocation.

Thanks,

Steve Richter
