That is, I want to know if MATPTR is possible, *before* I try, and just skip that entry if the pointer isn't available to my program. ÝÝ> if you specify that you IGNORE the exception I don't think that the overhead is all that big. What exactly are you trying to do? Why can't you tolerate ignoring an exception? Maybe you worry about CPU-cycles too much. This certainly cannot be a performance problem.
