I'm not sure that's the 'best' thing to do. Sure, I can go off and port
someone's C version of the stuff I need. if I really wanted to stay Java
free, but the stuff I'm interested in is already on the AS/400 via JCE, so I
don't (at this point in time) intend to re-invent the wheel...
