Some pgms ( like qcmdexc ) rcv a lgth parameter and the char parm is max lgth. Scanning the complete declared lgth of the char parm could result in a space overrun exception. no? also, What happens at pgm exit? Will the created null term string be copied back to the passed by addr variable of the calling pgm? Does that not risk an overrun of the variable passed by the calling pgm? Is this moot now because of ILE, one of its few positive contributions to our platform? thanks, Steve Richter ps: excellent response Simon! +--- | This is the MI Programmers Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MI400@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MI400-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MI400-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: dr2@cssas400.com +---
