I think there is far more to securing a web site (400) than what we've
discussed so far.
If someone takes down your router (like Cisco leaving some model's passwords
in clear text!) - your web site is down.
If you have NT's in the network, then hack in and sniff the network for
those clear text telnet signons to the 400.
A favorite-call the support desk, claim to be one of your road salesmen &
claim you forgot the password.
What do you read about most lately-denial of service-flood the http server
with packets. Someone attacked www.weather.com for 7 hours!
Think your too small of a company to be hacked? I had the son of the owner
of one customer ask me how to attack
their competitors system - a "small" company. The lecture I gave him did
nothing.
I think most hackers who actually gain access (not dos or virus) do it thru
the front door.
Secure the 400. Then secure everything around it. Encrypt any remote access
to not just your 400, but the whole network.
