MATINAT looks to be an excellent debug tool.

It will materialize the instruction of a running pgm, including ptrs to the actual operand data.  Combined with a trace handling pgm, a standalone trace pgm could be written that would show each mi level instruction executed in a pgm and show the data value of each operand.

Am I correct on this?

Is this instruction an MI original?

It must have taken some effort to write it.  Was it used as a debug tool by the os developers?
