It produces ILE programs which run natively on the box.  Apparently since
it is a brand new compiler the easiest way to bring it economically to the
iSeries was to run the AIX compiler in the PACE enironment.  It generates
w-code, as do all of IBM's modern compilers, and then like the RPG or COBOL
compilers the CUBE back-end is called to "tweak" the w-code prior to
calling the translator.
