I don't think there is much difference, but it is easy to test. I'll make a little test program that writes 1,000,000 records. Then one that reads them. You can make an RPG program to do the same and we can compare. RPG might even be faster in some cases. It all depends on the amount of internal buffering not really on the programming language. ----- Original Message ----- From: Francesco Scafi <fscafi@tin.it> To: <MI400@midrange.com> Sent: Sunday, November 21, 1999 1:48 AM Subject: RE: CPRDATA & DCPDATA > > [Leif Svalgaard] Certainly, below is the COMPRESS program. > ... > > A major part of the program is how to read/write files with MI. > > This is a major topic in itself, but please ignore that code for > > now. > > > >... > Hi Leif, Hi all. > > Read and/or write a file in MI is more fast then the READ/WRITE/UPDATE of RPG? > > There are tecniques than make faster the process in MI than in RPG in such > way to use less resources of AS400? > If I read 1.000.000 of records in MI and I read 1.000.000 of records in RPG > is the same thing ? > > Greetings, > Francesco > > > +--- > | This is the MI Programmers Mailing List! > | To submit a new message, send your mail to MI400@midrange.com. > | To subscribe to this list send email to MI400-SUB@midrange.com. > | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MI400-UNSUB@midrange.com. > | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: dr2@cssas400.com > +--- > +--- | This is the MI Programmers Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MI400@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MI400-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MI400-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: dr2@cssas400.com +---
