I don't think there is much difference, but it is easy to test.
I'll make a little test program that writes 1,000,000 records.
Then one that reads them. You can make an RPG program
to do the same and we can compare. RPG might even be
faster in some cases. It all depends on the amount of
internal buffering not really on the programming language.
