Hello Laura,

I did something similar as what you explained.

The way I went about it, is to use Micorsoft Access, connected via ODBC to the Mapics AMFLIBX library, created a Bill of materials view, and a query in the AS400 to get the routing operations, and their cost
Then created a few queries in Microsoft Access to create the cost for the parts.
We use this to view variable overhead in a gross profit query, but this can be used in any query requires costing.

If this you would like more details on this, please let me know and I can send all the information on how I built it and how it works.

Best Regards,

Subject: Re: [MAPICS-L] set up costing simulation in Powerlink

Hello Laura,

first create your simulation site in Power-Link - use the function Copy to copy your production site to simulation site.
Then make all desired changes (change facility rates, overhead rates etc.). You can use SQL or RPG program to modify your rates in simulation site (be carefull as usually :o) The submit Costing for your simulation site.
Create a query to compare costs in production site and simulation site.
I usually delete the simulation site immediately, because it is confusing for Engineering to have two records for each item, faclity, BOM, routing.
Works fine.

Předmět: [MAPICS-L] set up costing simulation in Powerlink

Hello:
Has anyone successfully set up costing simulation in Powerlink? There is a KB and documentation referencing costing simulation but not very detailed instructions. We have fiddled but it simply just does not work.
Can you share any advice or recommendations please.
Regards,Laura
