I suppose we need to put this to bed. There is typically a clause in
MAPICS and Infor license agreements that require additional license
payments when a licensee grants access to any person who is not an
employee of that company, of Infor or a current affiliate of Infor. This
clause has been in a majority of contracts for many years. It is not a
financial penalty as such, but it is a license fee over and above the fee
already paid.

Quite frankly, I don't know the origin of this clause, nor do I know the
business justification. I have yet to find anyone who remembers when or
why it was put in. However, if it is in your agreement, it is a term of
your license. You could have an issue if you grant third party access and
Infor performs an audit.

I don't believe this has happened very often, and we don't consider it a
major licensing violation. However, you should be aware of the provisions
of your license pertaining to third party access. If you have this clause,
you are bound by its terms.

I believe the issue is that Brad indicates that using service providers
who
are not Infor Partners is a violation of Infor's license agreement and
"may
carry a significant financial remedy." As an independent service

I'd like an explanation of what that means.

Just a caution that using non-Infor Partner personnel may violate the
Infor

It appears that some folks on this email thread misunderstood my comments
defending the reputation of the channel partners (affiliates). I
apologize if I was not clear. In a prior email to the group there was a
cautionary message that in affect said, understand the language and
intent in your software contract with Infor before deciding the source of
services. There was a subsequent email suggesting that maybe channel
partners should not be part of this email-based support group because
they might use it as a excuse to go phishing (trolling) for business. My
response (I thought) clearly stated that those types of activities were
(first) against the rules of this group, and (second) unprofessional. I
followed that with a statement that the channel partners work together to
maintain their professional approach.

Now, please, let's get on with the business of helping each other solve
issues and have a positive impact on our employer's businesses.

Four or five remaining xa affiliates are trying to cover the entire United
States, but independent service contractors like Rusty Jackson and
non-affiliated companies hold 95% of the mapics knowledge nationwide. They
also make up a large part of this forum as well. Richard, you should work
nicely with everyone in order to maintain your professional approach and
not worry so much about the "positive impact on your employer's
business". After-all, it is the client's success that really matters.

Group,
I do not want to see this thread become a forum questioning the value of
either Channel Partners or "non-Infor Partner personnel". Somehow the
thread on SystemLink transactions took a "left turn", perhaps due to a
user's recommendation, I'm not really sure. I totallly agree with the
establishment of this group for promoting knowledge and refraining
from selling services or showing any animosity to other members.
However, since an Infor Channel Partner brought it up, I am looking for
futher clarification on the statement "using non-Infor Partner personnel
may violate the Infor license agreement and may carry a significant
financial remedy for third party access of the customer's Infor XA
system" . Since there are others that have expressed a similar interest
I chose not to take this off-line. Its critical that I understand any
potential issues to protect my company's interests.
Thanks.
