Hi

We migrated to live system in July 2010 for Release 9 and have most
users in powerlink and/or HPS IDF level 1 now

If I can be of any assistance or help on any issues please let me know

The migration process was smooth and the system went live without any
day one issues. ASD the other poster has said minor glitches or reported
issues have been fixed by regular fixes /ptfs. All our in house programs
were tested /converted /recompiled into idf level 1 HPS at the testing
stage.

Gradually these are being moved to powerlink procedures/reports where
possible.

All testing and upgrading was carried out in house by myself.

We are also at the latest level of fixes on the server and client

Gang,
Good Afternoon....
Just curious what others are doing in this area. I have a customer with
a new
I.T. director. (like maybe only 6 months). He has a Manager with over 30
years.
They have addon packages and lots of custom code. They have no real
documentation. Most is in one or two peoples head.

Mainly flowchrating would be a long tedious job.?Especially for an
outsider.
Just wonder what others have and are doing? Is there a 3rd party package
that
could assist, or do a decent job? Something does not require days of
training to
use. ?
I know infor has their EPAK for users.

thanks in advance

pete?

Pete,

I am not really sure about what level of documentation you are looking
for but I used Hawkeye's Pathfinder to document systems and was pretty
satisfied with how it worked. It had been on the system but not updated
for years at my last shop. When I ran the analysis function, it did a
decent job of building a cross reference database. I was able to perform
where used analysis on files and programs. I think there were also
options for printing system flow diagrams. We were running MAPICS 5.5
with a lot of custom programs and no system documentation. I did benefit
from a lot of decent user written procedures. This level of
documentation provided a better understanding of how the systems were
being used as compared to what they were capable of.

Good Luck,
Jon

I have not been able to find any documentation for converting or
upgrading to rel 9.

I need to start reviewing the process and requirements.

We are currently at 7.7.

Also, those on Rel 9, How is it functioning and any cautions or problems
getting to Rel 9?

Thanks ahead of time.

Mapics (Infor) SH15668 can be downloaded from there Infor365 site. It
gives you what you will need in going to rel9.

Hi Otto:

On the Infor 365 support site under Downloads/Infor XA Informational
PTFS/XAR9 you will find all of the PTF numbers you should download to
migrate from release 7.7 to release 9.

I have been migrating from 7.7 to R9 now for several months and the
number of PTFs to resolve R9 issues have been plentiful.

The 2nd PTF CUM should be coming out soon and I would recommend you wait
for this PTF CUM to be available before stating your migration.

You will have to do soon analysis to determine if you are going to use
the IDF (screen scrapper) functionality.

Steve
