Greg,

At first, I was also intimidated by making the change. While I still
maintain my "currency" with XA, I'm aggressively pursuing an SAP line of
business. If your experience is anything like mine, you will quickly get
over your trepidation and find that a great deal of what you know is
DIRECTLY transferable to your new environment. Two suggestions to make it
easier for you:
1) Keep a copy of your XA manuals. They are excellent documentation of
how a system OUGHT to work. You'll find MAPICS didn't have ALL the
functions, but it had a great many and they were by and large exceptionally
well implemented and documented. And the books are superior to all others I
have run across.
2) Avoid the temptation to say out loud, "well in MAPICS, it works like
this......" Just sublimate that part of your sentence and you'll quickly
reestablish yourself as an expert in your new system.
And yes, some of this was written tongue in cheek, but I do want you to be
comfortable - it's not nearly as difficult in practice as the fear made me
believe.
Good luck!
Mike

subject: [MAPICS-L] Lawson forums?

It looks like we may be switching from MAPICS to Lawson ERP.
I'm trying to find a forum or list to start to familiarize myself with
the software.

The ones I have found are all sparse and not very active..... maybe 10
posts in all of 2011.

Any suggestions on useful info on Lawson ERP?

Any tips and converting MAPICS files to Lawson tables?

Thanks,
Greg
