We use the iSeries Data Transfer from the iSeries and then the iSeries Data Transfer to the iSeries functions on the Windows IBM System i Access tab.

On the "from", it creates a File Definition File (FDF) on your PC that is key to the upload. We also set the file format to BIFF8.

We can update the file in Excel and upload the file to the iSeries using the iSeries Data Transfer to the iSeries function. On the upload, you need to specify the FDF file that was created at the time of the download.

Hope this helps a bit.

Hello,
I have a problem populating offline files in Excel. I have populated the file on the iSeries with one record. When I try to download the data not all columns in the table come down and this is making it impossible to add data to the Excel sheet and send it back up.

Any help anyone can give will be greatly appreciated

Thanks
