Brief instructions:
1. Load the Mapics offline file with a single fake record
2. Use IBM Client access transfer utility to download the file using
parameters:
Output Device: File
Details/File Type: BIFF3 MS Excel 3
Check Save transfer description (FDF file)
This download will give you an excel file with a single record to use as
template.
3. Paste your data on the downloaded excel file, use the Paste Values
option so you don't copy formats (you need to be careful with data
types, you may have to do some trial an error to make sure you have the
right data type in place)
4. Use the transfer utility to upload the file using the FDF file
description you saved on the download. Be aware that problems with data
formats will give you an error on the upload.

Hope this helps

Subject: [MAPICS-L] Loading Offline Files from Excel

Hello,
I have a requirement to load some offline data to our
MAPICS system. Currently it is in an Excel 2003 spreadsheet and I need
to get it into a file on the iSeries that I can use to load from. As I
have never done this before I have no clue on how to proceed.

Could some kind soul out there enlighten me.

Thanks very much in advance

Bob Anderson
