Steve,
Call install/initial establishes (or upgrades them if necessary) the QGPL objects, AMCESLIB/AMCESSQL shared libraries and the initial AMALIB/F/T/X libs with CAS only contents. You will be prompted for the environment ID.
This initial install process typically takes about 30 minutes (but evidently may be shorter/longer based on your System i performance).
Please refer to informational PTF SH15588 for detailed R7.8 installation instructions.
Data migration from your current R6 environment is done through a separate step - see informational PTF SH15608.
Thx,
Christophe

Subject: [MAPICS-L] Install V7.8 questions
Approximately how long did the initial install take for V7.8, command Call install/initial. Does it run interactively or will it submit something to batch? It does not populate the new environment with data from an existing environment correct, that is done separately I hope. I assume it will ask me what to name the new environment?
We are converting from version 6 to 7.8 anyone have some gotchas to be aware of?
Thanks in advance
Steve Jones
