You can use the cost change by item class feature to re-roll costs using a
commodity code in the item class. This would allow you to say, "I have a 5%
price increase for Orange Peel effective Nov 1." You can then roll the
costs using a 5% increase on all products using the "Orange Peel" commodity
code. This gives you a fast way to change costs when commodity rates
change.

Next, use the cost plus margin price books. This will allow pricing to move
relative to your changing costs based on commodities.

If discounts for volume purchases, or distributors, etc. are needed, always
discount from the cost plus price using Variable Trade Discounts, Fixed
Discounts or terms.

Subject: [MAPICS-L] Pricing Administration

Wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to best utilize MAPICS for
customer pricing administration. We have hundreds of SKU's, some are common
stock items and some are unique customer formulations. Our ingredient costs
change frequently based on commodity markets. Looking to utilize price
list groups and tie to commodity changes rather than doing on a "one off"
basis. Running Release 7.7. Appreciate the assistance.
