This does raise other issues:

What Release/Version of XA are you at? (R4, R5, R5.5, R6, R7, R7.7,
R7.8,R9)
What applications? This affects some of the pre/post issues.

Mark,

It is possible that at R4.0 version of XA the Pre/Post backup options may
not have been available. It has been at least a decade since I have worked
on a R4 version of XA. In R5.5 and beyond (maybe even R5), there is a place
to key a command (like CALL PGM(X) as part of the backup process. The "PRE"
backup command will run before a dedicated mode is obtained. The "POST"
backup command will run after dedication has occurred AND after the XA
backup process has been completed.

The End-of-Tape option is for the XA Backup portion only. If, as part of
your Post Backup command, you are saving additional libraries then you would
want to change the option to a 2=Leave. Your Post Backup command would have
to handle the Unload/Rewind option. See the sample screen shot below:

============================================================================
======

DATE 4/19/10 CHANGE BACKUP OPTIONS CHANGE AXZU95
AZ
BACK UP TO TAPE OPTIONS

SAVE ACCESS PATHS. . . . . . 1 0=NO, 1=YES

DATA COMPRESSION . . . . . . 1 0=NO, 1=YES, 2=DEVICE

DATA COMPACTION. . . . . . . 1 0=NO, 1=DEVICE

END OF TAPE OPTION . . . . . 2 0=UNLOAD, 1=REWIND, 2=LEAVE

PRE-BACKUP COMMAND . . . . . CALL PGM(PREBACKUP)

POST-BACKUP COMMAND. . . . . CALL PGM(POSTBACKUP)

F18 REFRESH
DISPLAY
F19 RETURN TO
SELECT

If you are still on R4, then you may want to consider some other options to
handle saving additional libraries.

Pre- & Post-Backup options are accessed as follows:
-CAS
-Option #4: Back up and recovery
-Option #1: Back up Files
-Option #5: Change back up options
-After you fill in the first 2 screens and press ENTER the screen where
you
can key in the CL commands will appear. These options will then apply
whether to you do an immediate backup or schedule an unattended one.

The tape option applies at the end of everything.

I can't find pre and post commands, where are they in the menus.

Also in the backup to tape options, the end of tape option choices I have
are 0-Unload, and 1=Rewind. Does this happen after the Mapics backup, or
after the post command?
