I'd start by looking to see if any of the batch transactions are in a
"U" (unapplied) status (I don't think MAPICS considers these as
"errors"). If so, you can only suspend the batch, not close it. Make
sure the unattended job for inventory transactions, AMI3K, is active.

Subject: [MAPICS-L] Work Order / Batch Closeout Question

Hello all,

We have implemented a wireless scanner barcoding system for inventory
purposes. We have got it running smoothly for the most part, but have
an
issue that I cannot resolve. Hopefully someone else has had this issue
or
may know what could cause it.

The problem we are having is when we try to create an RM transaction on
our
wireless scanners. There is a scenario when MAPICS goes to a certain
screen, and the scanner doesn't recognize the screen, b/c we have not
told
the scanner what to do when it sees it. (Mainly b/c we don't know what
causes the screen to appear and never saw it while manually creating RM
transactions.) After MAPICS processes the RM transation, it wants to
close
the batch. This is of course normal. Up to here we are fine. As it
comes
to the screen that typically gives you the option to F23 to Supspend the
Batch, or F24 to Close the Batch, it knows to close the batch and run
the
register. Every once in a while, when we get to this screen, it only
gives
the option to F23 Suspend, and doesn't give the F24 to Close option.
Here,
the scanner doesn't know what to do and "freezes". This only happens a
few
times a week, so I know our programming is correct for the most part,
b/c it
works the rest of the time.

My question is does anybody know why we are getting the screen that
doesn't
allow us to F24 Close Batch. There were no errors in the batches in
question. There are no other types of transactions, only RM
(Manufacturing
Receipts).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
