I feel I must say that you can be VERY creative with the 'canned'
solution of COM_Net without doing any modifications to what impacts
XA. We ran vanilla COM_Net and provided access to everything our
customers wanted.

There is also limited capability by using Net-Link and creating

because with System-Link it's just too easy to interface now.
