I wrote a system similar to what you are describing. It interfaced
directly with XA R6 (not MDCC). Operator ran a job that accumulated
unstarted MOs based on due date range and raw material (plate required)
and sent the list of parts/qtys to SigmaNest via Simtrans. When a burn
program was finished the operator ran another job that created the IP
transactions and job offs with the theoretical burn time in TRDATA.

Subject: [MAPICS-L] Burning Parts - nesting

Group,

I am engaged with a client that burns plates.

Of course this involves nesting. MDCC is involved, as is rel 7.8 XA.

My question is they would like a PC burn/nesting pgm to communicate with
the Iseries and

transmit data to the various MOS involved, potentially pro-rated time to
burn a plate.

(i.e. sent on/offs to MDCC) They do not want to have to manually set up
the MDCC nest along with the PC nesting.

Or perform a next off in MDCC. They would like to have a transaction
feed.

Has anyone out there solved this issue ? We just didn't want to rebuild
the wheel....

They currently are running Sigmanest and Simtrans....PC based.

Thanks in Advance for any insights.
