I have a customer that is also going to a power 6 box. 1st they are going to V6r1 on their current box then the power 6 box a few weeks later. We are doing this on a development box 1st(going to happen in a couple of weeks),  then the production box sometime in Sept.

Ed, can I contact you offline? want to see if you did anything special.
thanks

Subject: Re: [MAPICS-L] V6R1

Not true! We are running on OS V6R1 on a POWER6 Box, XA is at R7.7 (PTF 6638)

In February we upgraded MAPICS that was modified.  Then after that we did a system migration from a timeshared 570 server (outsourced) to a dedicated rack mounted POWER 6 system (in house) running virtualization with iOS (OS400)  Considering the amount of change things have gone very smooth. We are very happy to have the server back in house on our LAN, power link runs much faster now on a LAN vs. WAN.  We had no choice on OS version since the new hardware needed V6R1.  New HW is a 8203-E4A

Beware SNA is not supported on new gigabyte Ethernet HW - if you have very old legacy systems!  (We have a very old twinax attached data collection system using very old SNA client software) There are ways around that problem, but better to upgrade the legacy system 1st if possible.

The MAPICS Support site has informational pTF's for guidance on upgrading to OS 6.1

I would do the upgrade especially since you'll be putting it on a new box - good luck!

Does the lack of a reply really mean that no one has done this yet?  Please tell me that isn't true.  Anyone on V6 running XA?

We're looking at doing this move (V5R3 box to new V6R1 box) in the next couple of weeks.  Have all the XA ptfs and the 6638 PCM yet to apply.  Anyone been thru this and lived to tell about it?  XA at 7.7
