Gil,
From my experience, I do not believe that Kits have an issue with Batch/Lot
control . At the time of shipping the COM Kit, the panels still prompt you for each component and which Batch/Lot number is being selected. The challenge may be that you have to select the Batch/Lot for each one of those items and cannot select a Batch/Lot for the entire kit. I could definitely see that as being time consuming (and a real P.I.T.A).

I have also seen companies use Batch/Lot control as a means of keeping track of Serial Numbers. Again, if you are shipping hundreds of items at a time, each item would have to have it's own Batch/Lot number (one item/serial number in each lot number). Then, to make matters worse, you cannot search for the Lot Number using the COM inquiry and would have to key the Lot number again as the Serial number.

Eric

Also, do not forget the limits on using the Batch/Lot control.

For an example, correct me if I am wrong, I remember that when we activated
batch/lot control because we manufactured medical devices, we had no
problems with batch/lot controls. The only issue we have was Kits.
Sometimes we sell kit items that has maybe from 10 to 80 medical devices in
one product. The Kit/Components does not accept items with batch/lot
control items. That through us a curve ball.
